vertigo

Comparing screenshots from Alfred Hitchcock's classic "Vertigo," set in the San Francisco Bay area, with photos of the same spots today, it's fun to see how places have aged. Here's 16th and Dolores, a few blocks from my apartment. Unfortunately the trees have grown, masking the architecture, and the cars have gotten uglier. But now my favorite cafe, Maxfield's House of Caffeine, is on the block. So there has been some improvement.
