pomade is incredibly super retro
A 2300-year-old body preserved in an Irish bog shows that hair styling products have an astonishingly long history. Of two bodies recently found, one was 6' 6" tall, a giant by his time's standands. His boggy neighbor stood only 5' 2", but boosted his stature with a pile of hair on his head held high with a styling product made from resin, which was imported from France.
The fact that the bog man sporting the pompadour could get a fancy, imported hair product suggests he was rich. But perhaps this led to his demise: his head had been split open with an ax before he was dumped in the bog.
